Ackamee - a supermarket (Acme)
Allannick City - where the elderly people go on a bus to gamble with ten dollars in quarters
and a coupon for a free lunch. (Atlantic City) 
annatt - a reference to others of the same type. "Joe, annatt all go to the beer garden on Saturday nights." or "I just bought some bondo, annatt to fix the rust on my car."
arthur-itis - a joint disease. Also a Lithuanian surname.
assburns - aspirins
atha-letes - athletes
babushka - an eastern european word meaning "old lady" or "grandmother" but used locally to mean "a scarf worn over an old lady's head".
battree - battery
bazaar - an outdoor party put on by churches which involve alcohol and gambling. (Not a joke!)
beer garden - they don't really grow beer there. From the German "biergarten".
before da flood - reference to an event that occurred before the 1972 Hurricane Agnes flood.
bleenies - pancakes made of squashed potatoes and something else. 
breaker - area of a coal mine where little children worked 12 hours a day to smash big chunks
of newly mined coal into little chunks.
bugger - or "little bugger". The term was brought from England where it means "sodomizer" but here it's just a devilish person.
card party - gambling parties for old ladies run by churches. (no, I'm not kidding!)
cat-house - house of ill repute
Catlick - not a Protestant
cellinoid - an electrical term (solenoid)
chimlee - chimney
coal candy - black chunks of sugar having the appearance of coal which are sold to elderly tourists who come in buses to see the colorful dead leaves.
coal cracker - epithet given to the locals by  newcomers
collery - a place where coal is processed (colliery)
column banks - mountains of waste rock left by the robber barons after the extraction of coal from surface mines. (culm banks)
corker - an excellent or remarkable person or thing
couple-too-tree - several
crick - creek
cuzzint - not an obscenity. Just a relative.
dare-sn't - dare not. "You daresn't do that again!"
Da Flats - a muddy area near the river in Plimmutt.
davenport - sofa or couch
doze people/dem people - reference to an ethnic group other than one's own.
dahntahn - downtown area around the public square of Wooks-Barra.  There is no uptown.
dunky - a type of ass
doopa - another type of ass
Eddurdsville - Edwardsville
Eye-talyun - one of the local ethnic groups which contributed to Ski-bonics. "Italian".
fie - five - "You owe me fie dollars".
fillum - not what you do at a gas station. It's what you put in your camera.
f*cking A! - an exclamation of agreement 
gotchies - underwear
Gibbons - A cheap, local brand of beer. Sometimes referred to as "carbonated ape urine".
haitch - the letter H
heyna?, henna? - corrupution of "ain't it?" Used at the end of a statement in order to elicit a response from the person spoken to.  It's useage is similiar to the Canadian "eh".
heyna er no? variant of "heyna".
heynat da troot? - ain't it the truth?
ice box - refrigerator
ink pen - don't ask for just a "pen" or you'll be given a "pin".
hoagie - a sub sandwich. 
hose house - not a kinky cat-house. A fire department station.
jab - job
julery - jewelry
kielbasa - a kind of sausage. pronounced "Ka-bossy".
L.C.C - Luzerne County Community College - A.K.A "Last Chance College". 
mangoes - what many here call green bell peppers. (Long ago someone got the signs mixed up in the produce department at the Ackamee)
melk - milk
mill - any clothing factory (also called a "dress factory" or "sewing factory") They've all moved to Mexico and China.
my-un - mine
Nanny Cook - Nanticoke, a town
no word-a-lie - the truth
Noxen - rural town which, for some reason is always the butt of jokes.  Actually, it's a nice place if you like rednecks and rattlesnakes
OK Corral - section of Wooks-Barra where shootings take place regularly. Formerly known as "OKT" for "OKarma Terrace", but renamed to "Boulevard Townhomes".
oleo - margarine. 
outen - to snuff out an open flame
outen the lights - to turn off the lights
pitnik - picnic 
pigs in the blanket - stuffed cabbage. (hot dogs in the rest of the world)
Plimmutt - Plymouth, a town
pock-a-book - woman's purse
reliefer - someone on public welfare
rummage sale - junk sales run by churches for old ladies.
samwitch - sandwich
San Suey Highway - San Souci Parkway
Shickshinny - A little river town that is the butt of jokes but is really the area's answer to Atlantis - because it's underwater much of the time.
shut the lights - turn off the lights
spaded - spayed - My dog got spaded yesterday (ouch!) 
statey - a State Trooper
strippin hole - not a place of ill repute.  A water-filled hole created by surface coal mining.  Frequently used as a swimming hole.
Swoyerville - Swoyersville
to pay a bill - the excuse local women use to go dahtahn to spend money
tagger - tiger
thee-AY-ter - theater
up da line - generally a location north of wherever you happen to be. There is no "down the line".
up da county - incarcerated in the county jail
Valley with a Heart - name given to the Wyoming Valley by the local media after Hurricane Agnes caused a flood in 1972.
wandett - wanted
water dams - reservoirs on Plimmutt Mountain. Are there other kinds of dams?
Wooks-Barra - Wilkes-Barre, a city
yo/call fer [person's name] - how kids call other kids out of their houses
youse - you (plural). probably an import from Brooklyn, N.Y.
